What is child abuse?

There are three types.

  • Physical abuse is when another person causes bodily injury or serious mental injury to anyone under 18 years of age.
  • Sexual abuse or exploitation is the employment, use, persuasion, inducement, enticement, or coercion of a child to engage in or assist another individual in engaging in sexually explicit conduct, including pornography.
  • Student abuse is any abuse against a student by a school employee. It is the responsibility of every school district in the state to report suspected student abuse by school personnel.
