Empowering Kinship Event Highlights Grandfamilies
Free event in Coatesville offers support and education to grandfamilies.
(August 18th, 2023) – The Coatesville Center for Community Health (CCCH) announces a one-of-a-kind event in September to offer support and education to Grandfamilies and Kinship Families in southeastern Pennsylvania. Grandfamilies provide the full-time care of children by relatives or close family friends.
The “Empowering Kinship Families Lunch and Learn” will be held at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) at 455 Boot Road in Downingtown on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is free, and a free lunch will be provided for attendees, along with resource materials and giveaways. People may also choose to attend online. The event will be live streamed throughout the state of Pennsylvania.
CCCH’s GRANDFamily Connections of Chester County, in partnership with the PA KinConnector and the PA Department of Human Services, is hosting this event in honor of National Kinship month in September. Fifteen local organizations offering different services will be in attendance to share how they can support families. Two educational workshops will be provided for attendees by PA KinConnector.
This free event is an opportunity for Grandfamilies and Kinship families throughout the region to learn about available resources to support their unique family needs and challenges.
If interested in attending, call 866-546-2111 or register here: https://www.kinconnector.org/copy-of-monthly-news.
About CCCH:
Coatesville Center for Community Health (CCCH) was established in 1999 to coordinate critically needed social services for Coatesville residents. CCCH opened its doors in 2001 as “a one-stop shop” of co-located agencies strategically designed to address the complex needs of the diverse Coatesville community. While five tenant agencies provide coordinated services at our site, CCCH is more than 'just a building housing five agencies.'
CCCH provides a range of programs intended to improve community health and nutrition, early childhood literacy, and multigenerational family support through the innovative GRANDfamilies Initiative (Chester County’s only Grandfamily support program). The Center’s mission is to leverage our collective impact to provide access to health and human services. Together, we improve the whole health and well-being of the community.
