Pennsylvania Medicare Education and Decision Insight (PA MEDI)
All counseling sessions are conducted in person, by phone or Zoom and presentations are presented via Zoom or in person. Please see specific presentations.
The Chester County Department of Aging and PA Medicare Education and Decision Insight, PA MEDI health insurance counselors provide free, unbiased, confidential assistance to Medicare beneficiaries during the Annual Open Enrollment Period, October 15, 2022 to December 7, 2022.
You can join, switch or disenroll from a Part D Prescription Drug Plan, a Medicare Advantage Plan, or switch to Original Medicare with or without a Medicare Part D Plan. The counselors will also screen you to see if you qualify for any financial assistance programs to get help paying for your prescription drugs or Part B premium. PA MEDI counselors are specially trained to answer your questions about Medicare and provide you with objective, easy-to-understand information about health insurance. Specifically, PA MEDI can answer your questions about Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicaid and long-term care insurance as well as prescription drug plans.The Chester County Department of Aging Services has a voicemail box designated for the PA MEDI program. If you will be joining the ranks of Medicare soon, are already in the Medicare system and have questions, or you just want to understand what this Medicare is all about, this session is for you! At these sessions members of the PA MEDI program will present an overview of Medicare including the definitions of Medicare A, B, C; explanation of the drug benefit (Part D), types of health care insurance available in Chester County, benefits available for low income beneficiaries and things to consider when selecting your medical coverage. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
