Conviction Integrity Review

The mandate of the Chester County Conviction Integrity Review Protocol is to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and credibility of trial convictions by carefully considering claims of actual innocence that meet established criteria.

Those criteria include, along with other criteria outlined in the Conviction Integrity Review Protocol:
  • The conviction occurred in the Chester County Court of Common Pleas.
  • It was a murder or a felony conviction. Misdemeanor and summary convictions will not be considered.
  • The conviction resulted from a jury or non-jury trial. Guilty pleas will not be considered.
  • The petitioner is currently incarcerated.
  • Credible evidence of actual innocence must exist.
If a petitioner meets all established criteria, the District Attorney’s Office will conduct a full review and investigation that may include interviews with witnesses, a re-evaluation of physical evidence, or the examination of new scientific or technological advances.

The District Attorney makes all final decisions about whether post-conviction relief is granted or denied and cannot be overturned by a court of law. [email protected]
