Coronavirus COVID-19: Nasal Swab Testing for Chester County

Chester County Health Department supports testing as a key strategy in the mitigation of COVID-19. The need for testing changes as the pandemic changes. Fortunately, in Chester County and Delaware County there is more than one way to access testing.

Before seeking testing it is recommended residents use CDC’s symptom checker to assess if you should seek testing or medical care.

If you believe you have contracted COVID-19, or have come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19, please contact your doctor first, as they know your health history. It is preferred that you get tested by your doctor, or they refer you to a testing site.

If your doctor cannot test you, use the Chester County map or Delaware County map to locate testing sites. The type of test, hours and number of appointments available vary at each testing site.

Testing sites run by the Chester County Health Department and Delaware County are reserved for individuals who are symptomatic, those with limited access to a doctor, or those who have been instructed by the Health Department to get tested. Therefore our appointments are limited.

Individuals tested at a location other than Chester County Health Department's clinic need to contact their test center location for results.

Results are available to you in the following ways:
  • Mail – You will receive a copy of your test result via mail to your home address that you provided.
  • HNL Portal – You have access to the HNL patient portal to see your result as soon as it is available.
    • If you provided a unique email address at the testing site, the lab will send a validation e-mail in 1-2 business days with a link to set up your online portal. This is the fastest way to receive results, and allows the lab to enter your personal information from the testing site into the portal.
    • If you did not provide your email address at the testing site, wait at least 48 hours after your test to create your account.
  • COVID-19 Positive Results – If you have a positive result, you will be called by the Chester County Health Department Disease Investigation team to complete an investigation and review guidance for contact tracing.
If you have any questions about your test result, please contact your healthcare provider or the Chester County Health Department.
