The Department of Parks + Preservation is one of the most comprehensive and sustained efforts in the country to promote a high quality of life. The programs are designed to preserve the most productive non-irrigated agricultural soils in the world, provide adequate local and County park and recreation opportunities, preserve significant natural areas, and encourage revitalization of developed areas. Put simply, we work to help keep farmers on the land, provide safe and accessible places for children and families to play, and protect the woods and wildlife that make Chester County special.
The purpose of the Department of Parks and Preservation is to provide preservation, recreation, educational, and stewardship services to the residents and visitors of Chester County so they can connect with natural and cultural resources to thrive in a sustainable healthy community.
