License to Carry Firearms ( LTCF) and Renewal Information During COVID-19

        In accordance with the latest Chester County, State and Federal guidelines implemented to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, on March 16, 2020 the Chester County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) customer service desk temporarily closed to the public. Concealed Weapons Permits expiring before April 5th, 2020, continued to be processed. 

        On April 13, 2020 all Chester County Offices are expected to reopen to the public and resume normal business hours.  

        By law, under 18 Pa. C.S. § 6109 (e) (1), the Sheriff has 45 days to process a license to carry application. The Chester County Sheriff’s Office with some exceptions will process an application within 10-15 days and will continue to do so. The Chester County Sheriff’s Office anticipates a high volume of application submissions when county business resumes. To facilitate the same day application process we encourage applicants to call the Firearms Unit at 610-344-6984 to schedule an appointment in advance.  

       Expect longer wait times to process your License to Carry Firearms application .Walk-in applicants will be processed in the order of arrival.  To adhere to social distancing guidelines only 2 applicants at a time will be admitted into the Sheriff’s Office. Only the applicant will be allowed into the office.

       If you are renewing a Chester County License to Carry Firearm please check the expiration date on your currently issued LTCF card. The Chester County Sheriff’s Office will only renew licenses that expire within 60 days of the expiration date on your current LTCF card.
