The Chester County Archives preserves the original road dockets and road papers filed with the Clerk of Courts from the 1680s through 2006. This series mainly includes documentation of public roads laid out in the County of Chester. For further information regarding what may be found in this collection, researchers should consult pages 12-14 and 33-37 of the Guide to the Records of the Court of Quarter Sessions 1681-1969. Researchers interested in state or provincial roads are encouraged to contact the Pennsylvania State Archives for assistance.
The following indexes are organized by municipality.
This index lists papers that are not in the reqular index to Original Road Papers (above). Most of the papers concern roads that were never built or proposed but not finalized. The papers do, however, contain geographic and property information.
