Process for Swearing In as a Notary Public and Recording Bond & Commission
What Do I Bring?
Your Bond must be completed with all the required fields before coming to our office.
Along with the Bond, bring the Power of Attorney that was sent from the bonding company.
A valid, government-issued Photo ID is required at the time of recording.
The fee to record is $38.50. We accept cash, money order or business check made payable to the Recorder of Deeds. No personal checks are accepted. You may pay with credit card provided your name is on the card. Note: There is a $1.50 service fee for using a credit card.
The Recording Process
The Recorder will print your commission for you to sign.
You will write your name and address on the return envelope (provided by the ROD). Our office will mail your recorded documents back to you within two to four weeks.
You will be sworn in by the Recorder and your bond, POA and commission will get recorded.
After providing payment, you will take the receipt to the Prothonotary office in the Justice Center (201 W. Market Street) to register your signature. The Prothonotary fee is $4.00.
Our office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, we suggest you arrive at 3:45 at the latest so you have enough time to go to the Prothonotary thereafter. No appointment is necessary for either office.
Please contact our office at 610-344-6330 with any further questions.
