Pistol Permits

This information pertains to pistol permits for hunting purposes only and does not imply or relate to permits for concealed firearms.

If you already have a Concealed Weapons Permit, you do not need to purchase the Sportsman's Pistol Permit.

To apply for a pistol permit you must:
  • present a current, valid hunting, fishing, or fur-taking license; or present a permit relating to the use of hunting-dogs
  • present an additional and valid form of personal identification
  • be 18 years of age or older
The fee for a pistol permit is $6.00, payable to the County Treasurer's Office. The permit is valid for five years from the date of purchase. A pistol permit will not be issued through the mail, and must be purchased in person.

Please note that even though the common reference to this permit is "Pistol Permit", the title of the application form reads "Pennsylvania Sportsman's Firearm Permit".
