September is National Preparedness Month
Each week, the Department of Emergency Services will bring you preparedness tips and information.  
Week 1 -- Do you know how to communicate when disaster occurs?

At the August 19th Sunshine Meeting, the Board of Commissioners proclaimed September as National Preparedness Month. Deputy Director for Emergency Management, Bobby Kagel, along with representatives from each of the Emergency Services Responder Organizations accepted the proclamation.  This year's theme for National Preparedness Month is Be Disaster Aware, Take Action to Prepare.

Another Successful Junior Fire Camp was held

Last week at the Public Safety Training Campus, 33 youth participated in the annual Junior Fire Camp.  These cadets represented 3 counties and 15 different fire companies.  Graduation was held on Friday, June 27th with over 150 family, friends and fire department members attending.  Along with graduation there were 15 pieces of fire, EMS and police apparatus on display.
