Firearms Application Renewal
License to Carry Firearms - Renewal

  1. Please contact this office if you do not receive a renewal notice by mail 60 days prior to your expiration date.
  2. Due to the revised law, it is now required to complete an application to renew a License to Carry Firearm.
  3. You must complete the application in its entirety, including two personal character references.  We prefer that these references be Chester County residents and not immediate family members.  We will take your photo and electronic signature in our office. If you are retired, please list the company in which you retired from.
  4. Proper identification is required either a ***PA drivers license with photograph  and current Chester County address or a State issued non-driver's identification card with photograph and current Chester County address***
  5. If you are not a U.S. citizen your immigration card must be presented to us.
  6. The application process may take up to 45 days, which is mandated by law. Upon approval your license will be mailed to you. If you are denied you will be notified by mail.
  7. Please return completed application in person to our office.
        *Do not mail your renewal application to our office*

License to Carry Fee is $20.00. (Cash or Money Order)
Money Order payable to: "Sheriff of Chester County"

Note:  Permits are valid for 5 years.
Please notify us of your new address if you move (after you update your PENN DOT drivers license.
Please call this office if you do not receive your permit within 45 days.
