Springton Manor Farm Great Barn Complex
The Great Barn at Springton Manor Farm
Initially part of a William Penn Manor, Springton Manor Farm has been in agricultural use since the early 1700’s. On the 300-acre demonstration farm is the Barn Complex that consists of the Great Barn, sheep shed, goat shed, a roost and equipment shed. You may see horses, a miniature donkey, rabbits, calves, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens and peacocks.
Be sure to visit the Family Farm Museum located within the Great Barn. Journey through the past 250 years of farming in Chester County. See seasonal tools and apparatus used on Chester County farms from the 1700’s to the 1900’s.
The Great Barn was built in 1888 by George E. Bartol, and reflects many of the construction styles of earlier Chester County barns. It stands on the footprint of the earlier barns that supported agricultural production at Springton Manor Farm starting in the early 1700’s.
Farmer Jim and Springton staff welcome everyone to visit Springton Manor Farm and stroll through the Barn Complex at no charge. You do not need to be part of a group to visit and tour the park.
Springton Manor Farm is open 8:00 AM to sunset daily, except December 25th. The barn is open 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM, daily.
