DRAFT Plan Available for Review
A coalition of the Chester County Planning Commission, Chester County Health Department, seven municipalities in central Chester County, and various project partners have prepared a plan that will guide this region towards a vision of "healthy, vibrant, and economically viable communities that facilitate more walking and biking." The Central Chester County Bicycle and Pedestrian Circulation Plan has been developed at the advisement of a Plan Advisory Committee and with broad public input at five public workshops that were held over the last 18 months. All members of the public and organizations are encouraged to review the DRAFT plan and provide comments by Friday, April 19, 2013 to Randy Waltermyer, project manager.
Project overview
The Chester County Planning Commission is pursuing an 18-month study in the central portion of Chester County, including the municipalities of:
- Downingtown Borough
- East Bradford Township
- East Caln Township
- East Goshen Township
- West Chester Borough
- West Goshen Township
- West Whiteland Township
The basic study objectives are:
- Define a regional bike/pedestrian network that connects the centers of Downingtown, Exton, and West Chester
- Identify improvements to walking and bicycling within the centers of Downingtown, Exton, West Chester (e.g. sidewalk gaps, bicycle racks, shower facilities)
- Develop priorities and policy recommendations for key stakeholders (i.e. municipalities, County, PennDOT)
